1) What kind of driver’s licence do I need to drive a Motorhome?
A valid, current driver's licence must be produced for everyone intending to drive our rental vehicles. State, overseas or international licences are acceptable. However, the licence must be in English.
2) Can the other passengers drive the Motorhome?
Yes, but these passengers must also have a valid, current driver’s licence and they must receive authorization from the pick-up branch on the day of departure.
3) Is it difficult to drive a Motorhome?
Driving a Motorhome isn’t particularly difficult. It’s just a matter of getting used to the height and length of the vehicle. A Motorhome is on average 4 to 6 meters (20-28 ft) long, which means you must take the corners wider than usual. You will need to pay attention tosigns indicating the height limits in a tunnel, under bridges or at parking entrances. Furthermore, it’s important to get one of your passengers to guide you through all reverse manoeuvres. Do not depend only on driving mirrors when backing up!
4) What is supplied with the vehicle?
Each vehicle is supplied with complimentary living equipment such as bedding, cooking equipment, eating utensils, bath and tea towels.
5) Do all Camp and Surf Motorhomes accommodatechild-restraint equipment?
Note that not all Motorhome accommodate child-restraint equipment. Make sure that if you need such accommodation, the Motorhome you are renting has it (Check on the Motorhome specifications). Child seats, depending on the child’s age, are commonly for children 3 years old or less. Reversible child seats or capsules (booster seats) are used so that an infant can be accommodated when required. All child restraint equipment is to be fitted by the hirer facing forward, in the appropriate seat/s and cannot be situated on side-facing seats. Refer to vehicle specifications on the web side.
6) How long should the battery system be expected to last?
Most of our vehicles have a dual-battery system. This means the engine battery is separate from the battery system used for internal appliances such as the fridge, lights and water pump.
The appliance battery system should last approximately 12 hours when fully charged. The batteries will only recharge when you drive the vehicle. Since the engine battery is separate, if you flatten one of the rear batteries, you will still be able to start the engine and drive.
Most of our vehicles can plug into electricity facilities at caravan parks. When you plug into electricity at a caravan park, all equipment will automatically runoff 240V electricity rather than the batteries. You can then use appliances such as the television, microwave and rear air-conditioning which only run off 240V electricity.
7) What are theroad restriction(s)?
2WD Motorhomes can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. The only exceptions to this are well-maintained access roads to recognised campgrounds. 4WD vehicles can also be driven on recognised unsealed roads. For some roads you will need to have written permission from the pick-up branch to drive on them. Do not hesitate to contact us for further information. The rental company reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions.
8) Where can we camp at night?
Caravan Parks
We strongly recommend you stay in a caravan (RV) park. Australia has an extensive network of caravan parks in all major tourist centres and most towns. Caravan parks offer excellent recreational opportunities plus essential shower and toilet facilities. Powered sites providespace for Motorhomes that enable visitors to connect their vehicles to electricity. There is usually no need to book ahead, even in peak periods. The approximate cost is AU$25-30 per night. National Parks
Most national parks have areas set aside for camping. There are often showers, toilets, barbecues and picnic areas. National parks are also beautiful and peaceful locations to stay overnight. However, national parks do not usually offer powered sites. Roadside Camping
Council laws prohibit camping on the side of the road near towns and cities. However, outside towns and in country areas it is generally permitted. 9) What is the Average Cost of Fuel?
Petrol (Gasoline) in Australia comes in unleaded and leaded grades, and is sold by the litre. Petrol and diesel fuel costs between $1.15 AUD and $1.60 AUD per litre and can be higher, particularly in country and remote outback areas.
Below is a fuel watch website for Australia.

Because your details are encrypted with this technology, you can be reassured that doing business with us over the internet is even more secure than reserving over the phone.
18) How do I have to go to the rental Location?

When calculating the number of days a vehicle is rented, the day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental. The day of the vehicle's return is counted as the final day of the rental. Vehicles are required to be collected and returned with business hours. Minimum rental periods are subject to change during peak periods. |
